Norwegian Breakaway
The ship, along with her sister Norwegian Getaway, were the first two ships in "Project Breakaway" ordered by Norwegian Cruise Line. The two ships were named through a public contest; Kimberly Powell submitted the name Norwegian Breakaway, which was announced on 14 September 2011. Norwegian Breakaway pleases passengers with a lively atmosphere and family-friendly amenities.
Norwegian Breakaway is home ported at the New York Passenger Ship Terminal in Manhattan, making seven-night cruises to Bermuda (May thru Sept) and seven-night cruises to the Bahamas & Florida (October thru April). She is the largest cruise ship homeported year-round from New York City. At launch, Norwegian Breakaway was the world's ninth largest cruise ship by gross tonnage.

About the Cruise Line
Norwegian Cruise Line is an internationally operating cruise line headquartered in Miami, Florida with two offices in Wiesbaden and London overseeing operations in Europe.
Norwegian Cruise Line is the innovator in cruise travel with a 50-year history of breaking the boundaries of traditional cruising, most notably with the introduction of Freestyle Cruising (which means that there are no set times or seating arrangements for meals, nor is formal attire required) which revolutionised the industry by giving guests more freedom and flexibility.
